If you’re searching for pet-friendly vacation rentals in Jacksonville Beach, you have more options than you probably realize. 37 of our properties welcome dogs — that’s nearly half our inventory, from beachfront studios for one dog and one human to oceanfront sleeps-16 homes for the whole extended pack. Below is the full breakdown by group size, plus everything you actually need to know: pet fees, local beach rules, dog-friendly restaurants, and where the nearest emergency vet is just in case.
Why Jacksonville Beach Is a Great Dog Destination
A few things make Jax Beach especially good for traveling with dogs:
- The beach itself is pet-friendly for most of the day — full details below.
- Town centers are walkable. Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Jax Beach all have walkable districts with dog-tolerant patios and water bowls on most corners.
- Hanna Park has a dedicated off-leash dog beach area — rare in Florida.
- The neighborhoods are residential — sidewalks, quiet streets, plenty of grass.
- Vet care is excellent. Jacksonville has multiple 24-hour emergency vet clinics within 15 minutes of the beach.
Our Pet Policy in Plain English
Before we get into property picks, here’s how it works:
- Pet fee: $30 per pet, per night. Maximum $250 per stay (so 9 nights or longer with one dog caps out at $250).
- Service animals exempt. No fee, no questions.
- Don’t sneak them in. Just tell us once you’ve booked. We’ll add the fee and confirm the property is set up for pets — extra throws, a dog bed if we have one, etc.
- Reasonable expectations: well-behaved adult dogs, kept off furniture is required, cleaned up after on the property and at the beach. Damage beyond normal wear is your responsibility.
- No size limits on the properties we mark pet-friendly — we host everything from chihuahuas to great danes regularly.

Jacksonville Beach Pet Rules (Important!)
The City of Jacksonville Beach ordinance is the single most important thing to know:
- April 1 – September 30: Dogs allowed on the beach before 9am and after 5pm. Outside those windows, no dogs on the sand.
- October 1 – March 31: Dogs allowed all hours.
- Always on leash. Jax Beach is a leash-required beach (unlike Hanna Park’s dedicated off-leash dog beach area, which is the exception).
- Always clean up. Most beach access points have dispenser stations, but bring your own bags as backup.
Plan around those summer windows: an early morning walk before 9am or sunset run after 5pm gives your dog beach time without breaking the rules. Most of our guests find the morning routine becomes the favorite part of their day.
Dog-Friendly Things to Do in Jacksonville Beach
Off-Leash & Outdoor
- Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park Dog Beach — Designated off-leash dog beach area. Bring water and a towel; your dog will be very wet. 4 miles of leashed-dog-friendly trails through coastal forest.
- Beach walks at sunrise/sunset — Within the allowed hours, the long flat beach is ideal for off-the-clock zoomies (still leashed).
- Beach Town Center sidewalks — Most of Atlantic Beach Town Center is walkable with dogs welcomed at outdoor cafes.
Dog-Friendly Patios
- Engine 15 Brewing — Outdoor seating with water bowls.
- Salt Life Food Shack — Some outdoor tables welcome dogs.
- Southern Grounds (Atlantic Beach Town Center) — Open courtyard, dogs welcome.
BrewHound
- The mother of all dog places, and get an IPA! On an acre of professionally developed parklike grounds. Brewhound is a unique gathering place for dogs and their owners to play and mingle outside, enjoy delicious cold (or hot) beverages, and relax in the beautiful sunshine
Tip: most patios welcome dogs but it’s polite to ask the host on arrival rather than assume.
What to Pack for Your Pup
Beyond the usual leash, collar, food, and bowls — a few things specifically for a beach trip:
- A dog towel and old sheet — sand gets everywhere. We provide human beach towels, but you’ll want a dedicated dog towel.
- Fresh water + a portable bowl for the beach. Florida sand gets hot.
- A frisbee or chuck-it — beach playtime is what your dog flew here for.
- Tick + flea prevention up to date. Florida is buggy, especially in summer.
- A copy of vaccination records just in case you need to board for a half-day or visit a vet.
- Booties or paw balm — sand gets very hot midday in summer; brick downtown sidewalks too.
Local Vet & Pet Resources
- FirstCoast Vets — 24/7 emergency vet, right in Jax Beach. The one we recommend if something happens at 2am.
- Pet Supplies Plus on 3rd Street — local pet supply store, has emergency food/treats/toys if you forgot something.
- Beaches JetSet Pets — If you need a few hours of pet sitting for a day trip without the dog. We have contacts we trust.
Why Book Direct (When You’re Traveling With Pets)
Here’s a real one: Airbnb and VRBO stack a “service fee” on top of property prices — typically 12–18% of the booking total. When you add a pet fee on top, your total can jump 20%+ over what you’d pay booking direct with us.
When you book direct:
- No platform service fee
- Pet fee goes directly to us (which we use to deep-clean for the next guest, not to a third-party processor)
- Flexibility on dates and pet logistics that OTAs don’t offer
- Personal contact if your dog has a quirk we should know about
Use code LASTWAVE5 for an additional 5% off direct bookings through Labor Day weekend.

Common Questions About Bringing a Dog to Jacksonville Beach
Are dogs allowed on Jacksonville Beach?
Yes, with a seasonal time restriction. From April 1 through September 30, dogs are allowed on the sand before 9am and after 5pm — outside those windows, no dogs on the beach. From October 1 through March 31, they’re allowed all hours. Dogs must be leashed at all times, and you’re expected to clean up after them.
How much is the pet fee?
$30 per pet, per night, capped at $250 per stay — so a nine-night trip with one dog hits the cap. Service animals are exempt: no fee, no questions. Just tell us after you book so we can add the fee and make sure the home is set up for a dog.
Is there a size or breed limit?
No size limits on any home we mark pet-friendly. We host chihuahuas and great danes regularly. We do expect well-behaved adult dogs kept off the furniture, and damage beyond normal wear is the guest’s responsibility.
How many of your rentals are pet-friendly?
37 of our 80+ Jacksonville Beach properties welcome dogs — nearly half the portfolio. That ranges from one-bedroom beach studios for a couple and their dog up to oceanfront homes that sleep 16 with room for several dogs.
Where can my dog go off-leash?
Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park has a dedicated off-leash dog beach area, which is rare in Florida, plus four miles of leashed trails through coastal forest. Jacksonville Beach itself is leash-required everywhere, so Hanna Park is the place to let them run.
Is there an emergency vet nearby?
Yes. Jacksonville has several 24-hour emergency veterinary clinics within about 15 minutes of the beach, which is worth knowing before you need it rather than after.
